Home DIY Projects To Try In Lockdown

Quarantine is not going to be over any time soon, and while we are all stuck at home this summer it is the right time to get some of those niggling house and garden jobs done. Today we are going to talk about some of the DIY projects you can try and enjoy this month.

Projects to do in lockdown

Rearrange the living room

You don’t have to spend a huge sum of money to make a big difference in the home. One great idea for you to try this week is to rearrange a room of the house and see what a big difference it makes. The living room is a great candidate for this because it is a room we spend a lot of time in, and you’ll be able to change the dynamic of your living space simply by moving your sofa to the other side of the room.

Build a raised flower bed

If you want to spend some time in the garden this summer, a great idea for a project would be creating a raised bed for flowers. You can use oak beams or logging to create a border which can be filled with compost and then have flowers planted inside. You could also think about painting the wood a fun colour like blue or orange to add some interest to your garden.

Repaint the house

Speaking of paint… while you are at home why not consider painting the house? By now you are likely getting bored of staring at the same four walls every day, and painting the walls a new colour can renew the space. Pick out a few colours and get them delivered to your house, then spend a few days painting every room of your home to renew and refresh it once and for all.

Swap soft furnishings

There are a lot of ways to change the look and feel of your home, and soft furnishings such as cushions and throws are a great example. If you are looking for a simple method to change your home, you can opt to buy new cushion coverings and throws that fit a colour scheme or season. By purchasing cushion covers instead of new cushions, there will be less storage space used up and you can simply change the covers now and again to vamp up your room.

Have a clear out

If you want to really make a change to your home this month, clearing out your old clutter is a great idea. Not only will it make the home feel bigger, but the act of clearing out the house will feel cathartic and bring you a lot of peace. Instead of simply throwing items out though, think about selling items such as old furniture and clothes online. You’ll make some good money from this and it will allow you to spend the money buying new items for your home that fit better with a new design. Clearing out the house is the first step to redecorating and it will open up the space to many possibilities.
